Last week we reported that ‘Plurker is Coming‘ and this week Plurker has relaunched their blog, seemingly gearing up for the imminent release of their Windows based desktop client.

If you had any doubts recently about whether Plurker was the real deal or not, through them out the window now. The Plurker blog is just one example of how dedicated these guys are. The blog went from a standard CSS template to full-blown execution in a matter of days and updates are steadily streaming out, including the reasons why Plurker won’t be developed in Adobe AIR, obviously spurred on by several questions from the Plurkosphere.

The latest news on the applurkation itself comes straight from Plurker’s lead developer, Keith Hanson.

I’ve got a few more solid days of work I’d estimate before I can let my brother sink his teeth into implementing the design. Once that’s done, I’ll be adding remaining bits of functionality here and there.

Keith said there are five main tasks left to cover before testing can commence:

  1. Rework the response view to match the latest design
  2. Add a navigation bar that allows you to get back to the main timeline
  3. Add support for serializable data (Plurks and viewed responses)
  4. Add support for saved settings and create the settings screens
  5. Create a one-click installer for easy install and updating

The team says a beta version of the app will roll out for testing sometime in the next few weeks.

If you’d be interested in testing out the Plurker app, send Keith a message on Plurk.

You guys have no idea how great the sex appeal that Jacob and I are getting ready to lay down on this app, and we’re chomping at the bits to get going on this.

While I’m a markup guru by trade, its the details I geek on, and animation lets me spend loads of time tweaking and playing to get that slide in and fade out exactly right.

I’ve been getting to see glimpses and toss animation plans around with Jacob (Designer) and we’re getting really pumped about putting the skin together. It’s just waiting on Keith to get the elements together for me to be able to get moving in Blend on everything. Once he gets it to the point I can touch it, you should be seeing screenshots / tight turnarounds extremely rapidly.

Atleast, thats what I hope =p

I’ll try to convince Keith to let us get some sneak peaks out soon for screenshots and such. No promises though, he’s tight lipped about this project!

@Ken, it’s glad to hear you guys are as excited about this as the rest of us. I can’t wait to start seeing some screenshots, and then the actual app!

@Deb, heck yes! Even though the Plurker team is made up of Mac and Linux fanboys, they realize the fact that most of the Plurk users out there right now are Windows-based. However, to truly satisfy the masses, they’ve also pledged to release a full-fledged Mac client after the initial Plurker app is out.

@TheNerd, I am stoked as well. A third party client is what I’ve asked for since I started using Plurk. I’m just happy that we’ve got such a swell team putting such a full-featured applurkation together for everyone.

    @Ken said it best ;)

Essentially, we’ll be using this just as much as everyone else will. So we’re just as stoked as our potential users are :)

@Mike: Thanks for the nice write up! I got about 10 friend requests waiting on me when I sat down this morning, haha :) The more the merrier!
